DC 178: duotangle initials

Duo-tangle time! Een duotangle opdracht, waarbij de keuze van de tangle vrij is, en de enige beperking die er is, is dat de naam van de gekozen tangles moet beginnen met je initialen. In mijn geval dus DS. Ik heb gekozen voor een patroontje wat ik nog nooit heb gebruikt, en een patroontje wat ik vaker gebruik als opvulling. het patroontje met de letter D is: double d's. Dit is een patroon, wat heel veel mogelijkheden kent, en uitstekend geschikt is voor het maken van een rand. dus hier maar mee begonnen. Vervolgens heb ik het midden op gevuld met Sp-eye-ryl.

Duo-tangle time. And this time, the choice of tangles are free. The only restriction is that the name of the tangle needs to start with the first letters of your name. So for me it had to be a tangle with a D and a tangle with a S. I decided to use one new pattern (for me) and one tangle that I really like a lot and use very often. the letter D tangle is Double D's. It is a tangle with lots of faces, and turned into many different ways. It is a perfect border tangle. So I took a Zendala tile and started with a border of Double D's. After that, I filled the center with Sp-eye-ryl, a tangle I use very often as a filler, mostly when I make a card. It is a very swirly and feminin looking tangle (because of the eye lashes)

DC 177: TRUFFLE

Een heel bijzondere gast challenge deze week. Van onze jongste CZT, mogen we deze week spelen met haar tangle, Truffle. Een heel leuk patroontje met heel veel mogelijkheden. Ik ben deze keer begonnen om meerdere basis lijnen te tekenen, en deze met elkaar te verbinden, zodat het niet zo zeer een border achtige tangle wordt, maar een vullende tangle. Bij het zien van de tangle dacht ik Yes, een heerlijk zwierige tangle. Maar wat gebeurde er al tekenend, bij mij zag het er heel rechtlijnig uit. Hmmm toch maar doorgaan, en gelukkig na het vullen van de basis met patroontjes een het aanbrengen van schaduw en Highlighst, is er dan toch een zwierig eindresultaat ontstaan.

Ik heb de vlakjes gevuld met de patroontjes N'zepple, Printemps, Bunzo en Meer. 

Mijn complimenten Caroline voor zo een geweldig patroon.

 A very special guest challenge this week. Our youngest CZT Caroline Broady, developed the pattern Truffle on her CZT training seminar in june 2013. It is a great pattern with lots of possibilities. I started with drawing the basic sinusoidal curves, putting serveral of them next to each other, with in my mind to connect them, so I wouldn't get a border like pattern but more a complete filling pattern.  When I saw the step outs I fell in love with it, because of the wavy look of the pattern. But Ohhhh what happened when I was drawing, it didn't look curvy, but very straight. I went on, and after filling the intermediate spaces, and putting some shading and highlighting, there the curvy look came. A very clever pattern Caroline, thanks for sharing it with us. 

I filled the spaces with N'zepple, Printemps, Bunzo and meer, used my black and brown micron, and made shadows with my graphite 2b pencil and sepia color pencil, and some highlights with white charcoal pencil.

DC 176: B.Y.O.B.

Bring Your Own Beverage! Oftewel neem je eigen drankje mee. Dat is de challenge van deze week. Erg leuk en interessant. Ik heb voor koffie gekozen, de drank waarmee onze dag begint. Aangezien de koffie als eerste op de tile moet, en daarna moet drogen, heb ik maar gelijk 3 tiles gemaakt met koffie, waarbij ik voor elke tile een andere techniek heb gekozen. Als eerst heb ik de koffie gedruppeld op een tile, en geblazen om de koffie om te zetten naar interessante string. 

This is a great challenge. Make a string or whatever you want with your favorite beverage, let it dry and start with patterning. Because there is a drying time I decided to do 3 tiles with different techniques to play with. The 1st one I just dripped some coffee on the tile, blew the drops into an interesting string. 

Bij de 2e tile heb ik een stencil gebruikt met lijnen. Hier heb ik de lijnen met koffie en penseel aangebracht op de tile.  En dit vind ik zelf een heel interessant resultaat, want ik ben tot de ontdekking gekomen, dat ik mijn eigen renaissance tiles kan maken door ze te beschilderen met koffie.  Al moet ik wel toegeven dat het effect van bruin met wit op 1 tile een heel mooi evenwicht geeft, en een heel mooi eindresultaat geeft.

For the 2nd tile I use a stencil with stripes to make some coffee stripes on my tile with a brush. This is a very interesting tile, because I think I can make my own tan-tiles now, just by coloring them with coffee.  Handy when I am out of the originals. Though I have to say that tile half white, half coffee color are just beautiful, and great to work on with a great balanced piece of art. 

Bij de 3e tile heb ik een dopje van een fles genomen, dit in de koffie gedoopt, en cirkels gestempeld op mijn tile. Moeilijk bij deze vond ik om patroontjes te kiezen in de cirkels. Daarom heb ik bedacht dat ik patroontjes zou zoeken die beginnen met BR(ing) YO(ur) OW(n) BE(verage).  Dat zijn geworden:
Braze, Yo, Owlz en Beelight.
Allemaal patroontjes die ik nog nooit eerder heb gebruikt.

For the 3rd one I took a bottle cap and stamped with coffee some circles on my tile. After the drying time this one was hard for me to fill with tangles. So I thought I should use tangles starting with BR(ing) YO(ur) OW(n) BE(verage). And these are the lucky ones:
Braze, Yo, Owlz and Beelight. All of these tangles I have never used before. 

Wat een geweldige uitdaging, gegarandeerd voor veel plezier, en zeker een aanrader om nog veel mee te spelen. Ik wil Amy  (de gast op de diva challenge blog) bedanken voor deze geweldige uitdaging. DC 175: UMT crux

Crux een patroontje van Henrike Bratz. Een patroon gebaseerd op een grid, met veel mogelijkheden en veel verschillende uiterlijkheden. Ik besloot om deze te maken met mijn zwarte en mijn rode micron pen. Rood wat aanzetten met mijn derwent inktense kleurpotloden, en voila klaar is mijn tile. 

Crux a pattern of Henrike Bratz. A grid based pattern, with lots of possibilities, and lots of nice looks depending on how you start filling the created spaces. I decided to do mine with black and red micron, en colored the red bale flowers with my derwent inktense pencils. So here is my tile... 

DC 174: Plant a seed, let the garden grow

Superimposing Strings is de opdracht, of te wel, teken 2 strings op elkaar, en ga hiermee aan de slag. Ik heb als eerste een Z als string getekend, en daaroverheen nog een string met een lus. 

Oeh, wel erg veel kleine vakjes om op te vullen op de tile. Ik ben begonnen met het grote vlak van de lus op te vullen met Printemps, een patroontje wat ik erg graag gebruik, vervolgens heb ik het kleine vakje eronder gevuld, en vond vlak boven de lus uitermate geschikt voor Phicops. Nadat ik dit af had, heb ik eigenlijk mijn tile laten groeien door telkens patroontjes er aan vast te plakken, zonder dat ik me echt aan de vlakjes van de string heb laten leiden, waardoor je de strings niet echt duidelijk meer in mijn eindresultaat terug ziet. Dus ik weet niet of ik helemaal aan de opdracht heb voldaan, ik heb in elk geval met veel plezier, me heerlijk laten gaan, en de strings dus eigenlijk alleen maar gebruikt om een begin te maken, als het ware een zaadje te planten in een eerste vlak, en vervolgens mijn tuintje laten groeien tot dit eindresultaat.  

Superimposing strings, means draw 2 string upon each other, and start drawing. As my strings I used the Z string first, and on top of that I draw a simple loop. Woow a lot of small spaces on my tile, hmmm  difficult to me. So I started with the space which I love (the rounded ones), the big space of the loop. I filled it with printemps one of my favo tangle. Next I did the little space below the printemps, and thought that Phicops would be a great addition so far on top of the Printemps. From there I just let my piece grow, by putting patterns next to the previous ones, not thinking and using the string guidelines very much. For some reason I just don't see the strings anymore once my basic is made. I am just having fun by growing my piece. So in the result you might not see a lot of my strings back, but thats okay I think, because I had a lot of fun making this piece. It seems like putting a seed in the first space of the string, and then let my garden grow.....
