Celtic Challenge 10

Aangezien ik wat meer met kleur wil gaan werken, heb ik me toch maar betere kleurpotloden aangeschaft. Na wat webresearch heb ik uiteindelijk gekozen voor prisma kleurpotloden. Vandaag zijn ze met de post bezorgd. Uiteraard wilde ik ze graag uitproberen, en heb dan ook flink wat geoefend en ze natuurlijk ook op de celtic challenge 10 van Judy toegepast. Voor mij was al snel duidelijk dat ik de achtergrond van de figuren zou tanglen met pais en stipple. De voorgetekende vormen van de template heb ik niet getangled maar met mijn nieuwe kleurpotloden ingekleurd. Inkleuren vergt toch wat oefening, het is nog niet zo eenvoudig om mooi schaduw werk te creeeren met de kleurtjes. Ik ben begonnen met de rode cirkel in te kleuren, deze is dan ook niet zo goed gelukt als de groene en blauwe vierkanten. Daar vind ik persoonlijk de schaduwen beter gelukt. Ik zal echter nog flink moeten oefenen wil ik de kleurtjes zo krijgen als ik dat voor ogen heb. Al met al ben ik tevreden over het eindresultaat.

Because I want to do more colorwork I decided to buy some better colorpencils. After some research on the web I thought that the prismacolor pencils would be a great choice. So I ordered them. Today, I recieved the package, with my brand new colors. So I couldn't wait to try them. Of course I wanted to try them on a challenge so I took the celtic Challenge 10 from Judy. From the start it was clear to me that I wanted to tangle the background, and color the circle and the squares. I used the Pais and stipple tangles to fill the background, and I picked 3 colors to do the geometric figures. I started with the red circle. I have to do some more practice, to get the right shading effects with the colors, as you can see above. The bleu and the green square are done a bit better. So in the end I'am rather satisfied with the result......

Challenge 91 Beads of courage

De Diva challenge van deze week heeft als titel ' Beads of Courage'. Ik vind dit een geweldig initiatief. Want chronisch zieke kinderen zijn inderdaad heel moedig. Ze moeten vaak vervelende onderzoeken ondergaan, en worden voortdurend geconfronteerd met vervelende aspecten van hun ziekte. Ik heb dan ook bijzonder veel respect voor deze kinderen. Ik spreek uit ervaring, want mijn dochter lijdt aan een chronische ziekte. (Duchenne). Ik draag mijn werk dan  ook op aan haar en alle andere kinderen die lijden aan de ziekte van Duchenne.

The Diva challenge of this week has as title: ' Beads of Courage'. I think this is great. Because children with a chronic illness have a lot of courage indeed. The have to get examinations in hospitals, and they often are confronted with all the aspects of their illness. They deserve respect for that according to my opinion. I know what I'm talking about, I have a daugther with a chronic illness (Duchenne dystrofy) and she is always laughing despite of her illness. I dedicate this string with beads of courage to her and all the childeren who suffer this illness.

Gahnesha calling

Herhaaldelijk kom ik bij het maken van challenges, werk tegen van Dillip Patel. Wat rondkijkend op zijn site, kwam ik zijn Zentange Gahnesha Calling tegen, een commitment wat hij voor zichzelf heeft gemaakt nl. het plaatsen 100 zentangle Gahneshas voor 31 dec. 2012. Uiteraard wist ik niet wat Gahnesa betekent, dus dat ben ik eerst maar eens gaan opzoeken op wikipedia. Geprikkeld door het verhaal, en om Dillip te ondersteunen, heb ik foto van een beeldje op internet gezocht van Gahnesa, en dit nagetekend, om vervolgens te zentanglen.


Making the several challenges I often see the work of Pillip Patel. Because I was curious about his background, I looked around at his site, and saw his  Zentangle Gahnesha Calling. It is his commitmet to publicsh 100 Zentangle Ganeshas before 31st December 2012. I was curious, and didn't know about Gahnesa, so I look it up at Wikepedia. I started to be interested, so I looked for a picture of Gahnesa on the web, draw it over, and filled it with tangles. I had a lot of fun doing this so Pillip I hope this will help you.

Zendala 27

Hier links de opdracht van de zendala dare 27. En mijn eerste gedachte was, o nee, weer een zendala met een oneven aantal in onderverdeling. Maar nadat ik hem had uitgeprint zag ik dat ik van deze template een mooie fengle zou kunnen maken. Dus...

This is the zendala dare 27. My first thought was, o no not again a zendala with a division by 7 and not a even one. But after printing I saw that this template was great to transform into a fengle.
So ...

Ik hoop dat jullie in de volgende afbeelding kunnen zien dat ik de ruiten in het midden heb gebruikt voor het maken van de fengle, en de buitenste rechthoeken als eindpunt van 1 fengle arm.

I hope you can see in the next picture, how I transformed the template into a nice Fengle. I use the figures in the middle as a guideline to start with the fengle arms, and the boxes on the outside as the end of the arms.  

Nadat ik de Fengle had getekend, was de rest een fluitje van een cent. De driehoeken opvullen met paradox, en de fengle armen vullen met bubbles, wat fantasie bloempjes aan de buitenkant, met wat blaadjes, schaduw aanbrengen, en tada klaar....

After I had the Fengle done, the rest was a piece of cake. The triangles of course done with paradox, the fengle arms with some bubbles, some fantasy flowers and leaves on the outside, and a little bit of shading.
Tada... my result.

Challenge # 90 : String 001

Een van de mogelijkheden om een ZT te maken is gebruik te maken van een string. Ik doe dit zelf soms. De uitdaging deze week bestond er echter uit om vanuit string 001 een ZT te maken. De string is eenvoudig, en daardoor uitermate geschikt voor het maken van een ZT. Na wat zitten surfen op het net voor leuke patroontjes die ik wil uit proberen, ben ik begonnen met het maken van een soort lint van de string. Vervolgens heb ik dit lint of touw gevuld met een patroon wat ik op internet ooit eens ben tegen gekomen, en wat ik in mijn oefen tekenblok had op gekriebeld. Helaas weet ik de naam niet, maar hij is heel gemakkelijk te reproduceren zonder patroon voorbeeld (Volgens het commentaar van Eden is het Claws, Eden bedankt voor je update). De herfst zendala zat nog in mijn vingers, dus een hoekje maar weel gevuld met eikenbladeren. In het midden van de lus heb ik Eyehook gebruikt. Een tangle die zowel klein, maar ook als een groot formaat heel goed is te verwerken. Toen ik dit eenmaal af had wist ik niet zo goed wat met de rest te doen. Ik had nog een groot vlak over. Ik vond dit te groot om als een geheel te vullen, dus ik had het vlak al eens verdeeld in kleinere stukken, uitgaande van het snijpunt van de lus, waardoor het lijkt of er vanuit het snijpunt allemaal linten ontspringen. Maar ook toen nog geen inspiratie voor een tangle. Dan maar weer op de Ipad op zoek naar een leuk patroontje. En zo kwam ik bij snircle uit. Een tangle die je kunt gebruiken als opvulling van een groot vlak, maar ook voor een randje of voor zoals in mijn geval als kralen aan een ketting. Erg eenvoudig, maar een groots effect vind ik zelf.  Oordeel zelf.....

Tangles: Oak leaves, Eyehook, Snircle

One of the possibilities for making a ZT is to use a string. Myself I use this technique not very often. But this time I had to because it was the diva challenge. And no, not a selfmade string but string 001 from tanglepatterns.com. It is a very simple but very useful string for a ZT. First I drew the string, and then started to surf around the web for some inspiration. After looking through my practice sketchbook, I saw a practice, I once saw on the net,and just the perfect job for this string. I don't know the name of it (if it has one, yes it has it is called Claws Thank you Eden for your comment and naming the pattern for me). On the web I only saw a drawing of it and not a pattern sheet or something like that. But it is very easy to reproduce. So I started to make a rope out of the string and fill it with that pattern. Since I still was in Autumn mood off the Zendala challenge, I started in the corner with some Oak leaves. After that I filled the loop with one single pattern of Eyehook. It is a great pattern to use in a loarge format, because you can fill that again. After that I had a large space to fill. But I didn't know with what. So searching the web again. Still no inspiration....grr... So I started to divide the great space into smaller spaces, all starting from the loop of the rope. So that it looked like little ropes coming out of the loop. After that again with the Ipad on the couch for searching patterns. And thats how I came up with Snircle. A tangle you can use to fill space, to create a border or making a string with beans of. That was exactly wat I wanted to do. It is a very simple pattern, but with such a great effect. Judge yourself...

Zendala #26

Sankegg

Hallo allemaal, Afgelopen week heb ik het vreselijk druk gehad. Ik moest 3 dagen volledig naar mijn werk, terwijl ik normaal maar halve dagen werk, en daarnaast, zijn we in het weekend ook nog naar Trier geweest. Ik had wel wat tijd om de diva challenge te maken, maar helaas had ik geen internet ter beschikking om mijn ZT te plaatsen. Ik vond het best wel een moeilijke tangle, zeker om er een mooi geheel van te maken. Toen ik echter donderdagavond laat thuis kwam was mijn dochter ook aan het tanglen geslagen, en had haar werkje met magneetjes op de koelkast gehangen zodat ik het zou zien bij thuiskomst. Ze had enerzijds een tangle gebruikt die ze gehaald had uit mijn tekenblok met oefentangles, en anderzijds had ze zelf wat bedacht. En dat gaf mij inspiratie om de tangle Sankegg zo te maken zoals in mijn tekening.

Oak, Web 

Gelukkig is het na het weekend wat rustiger geworden, ondanks het feit dat ik natuurlijk bergen was moet inhalen, omdat ik vorige week bijna de hele week fulltime heb moeten werken, en het weekend weg ben geweest. Toch heb ik maandag de tijd genomen om de zendala # 26 te maken, en ik vond de uitdaging heerlijk. Herfst vind ik een prachtig seizoen, de kleuren zijn zo mooi in dit jaargetijde, en daarom heb ik ook een gekleurde zendala gemaakt met bladeren, paddestoelen en een een spinneweb.

Hi everyone, I was very busy last week. Normaly I work parttime (half days), but last week I had to follow a course at work, so that I had to go 2 half days and 3 full days. So it was really busy, and I could hardly find some time to tangle. Besides that my husband planned a trip to Trier in Germany (a beautiful village, with great wine) together with our daugther. In Trier I had a little time to tangle so I made the Diva challenge, but without internet connection it is hard to load it to my blog in time. So I saved it and put it together with the zendala #26 challenge.
The Diva challenge should be done in Sankegg. I have to admit that this was difficult, and with my busy program, I did not know how to start it. Thursday when I came home late in the evening, I saw that my daugther tried to make a ZT too, and she made it with a tangle out of my sketchbook with practice tangles, and one she just made up herself. That one gave me the inspiration to make my ZT with the sankegg in this way.

After the weekend I found some time to tangle a bit, after all I had to do a lot of laundry to catch up from last week and the weekend. The Zendala dare was about Autumn and halloween.  Here in the Netherlands we do not celebrate Halloween as in de USA, so I did not really have a Halloween theme in my zendala. But Autumn, is a time of year I love,  the nature has so beautiful colors. That is why I made my zendala in color.

Celtic knot # 6 en Zendala dare 25

De celtic knot challenge (hier) is deze week in de vorm van een bloem. Ik hou van dit soort figuren, en had dan ook niet vvel problemen met het vullen van deze vorm. In het centrum heb ik nog een celtic knot toegevoegd, en vervolgens de openingen opgevuld met oa. paradox, en een andere tangle of doodle waarvan ik de naam niet weet, maar die heel geschikt is voor het opvullen van lege ruimtes.

De Zendala dare van deze week heb ik nog niet helemaal af, maar ik wou deze toch al even plaatsen.

Celtic knots, paradox, Bubbles ?

The celtic knot challenge  of this week is in a flower shape. I LOVE these kind of shapes, so I couldn't wait to sit down and do the challenge. In the middle I did some celtic knots myself (I had to practice these a little while, before using them on the template), and filled some spaces with paradox and the other spaces with lines and bubbles. I don't know the name of this tangle or doodle, but I love to do this one to fill little spaces. 

The zendala isn't finished yet, but I wanted to post this one already, incase I don't have time to post or to finish it next week.

De Zendala was moeilijker dan ik dacht. Ik had toch wat problemen met het feit dat de template in 3 delen was opgesplitst. Op een of andere manier verstoorde dat voortdurend mijn tangle flow. Het reslutaat vind ik zelf nogal druk. De tangles die ik gebruikt heb zijn : Flux, ParasailZ, Shingle, Prestwood, Ennies.

The Zendala was more difficult as I thought in the beginning. The greatest problem was that the zendala was divide in 3 parts. That made my mind confuse, and I didn't get the right tanlge flow. I think my result is too busy, but after all here is my contribution. The tangles I used are: Flux, ParasailZ, Shingle, Prestwood and Ennies.
