Challenge #93: One more time BUNZO

Ik had de zendala dare net geplaatst of de challenge kwam met de opdracht om de nieuwe tangle Bunzo te gebruiken. Gelukkig is het een hele fijne tangle dus een 2e werk met deze tangle was zo gemaakt. Het patroontje vloeit zo ui mijn pen. Ik vind het een prachtige tangle, gemakkelijk te tekenen, met goede schaduw en hooglicht mogelijkheden, waardoor een fantastisch visueel effect ontstaat.

I just had made my Zendala dare and posted it, when I saw that the Diva Challenge had to be done with Bunzo too. Thank God it is an easy pattern to draw, and it floats just out of my pencil. I love this tangle, easy to draw, great shading and highlighting possibilities for great visual effect. 

Zendala dare 29: Time to Bunzo

Vandaag heb ik de zendala dare gemaakt. Voordat ik de dare had bekeken, wist ik al dat ik de tangle Bunzo van Rick en Maria wilde proberen. Gelukkig was de template er geschikt voor. Het is een geweldige tangle, die heel gemakkelijk uit je pen vloeit, en die uitstekend te bewerken is met schaduwen, waardoor je een geweldig pop-up effect krijgt. Ik ben deze keer dus niet in het midden begonnen, maar in de grote ovalen, omdat ik deze wat geschikter vond voor deze tangle.  Het was een fijne template om te bewerken, ik hoefde nauwelijks te bedenken welke tangles ik vervolgens zou gebruiken (en dat is wel eens anders), het ging allemaal vanzelf.

Bunzo, Mi2, Auraknot, Ennies

Today I made the Zendala Dare # 29. Before I looked at the dare I knew that I wanted to use the tangle Bunzo from Rick and Maria. And I was lucky, the template was suitable for the tangle. It is really a great tangle, it just flows out of your pencil, and shading it is great. The effect is really popping up. So this time I didn't start in the middle, but with the big half ovals. It was a great template, I didn't need to think what to tangle next. Is was just coming on to my mind. 

Challenge 92 Stripes

Allereerst wil ik iedereen bedanken voor hun lief en opbeurend commentaar op mijn challenge 92 beads of courage. Zelfs mijn dochter was onder de indruk van alle lieve opmerkingen.

Om een of andere reden kreeg ik deze challenge maar niet voor elkaar. Rechte strepen liggen me niet. Ik hou van rond en swirly. Na een paar pogingen, heb ik de rechte lijnen maar gecombineerd met wat rondere vormen, en het geheel sprak me direct meer aan. Dus deze maar gepost.

Finery en W2

First of all I want to thank everyone for the nice and lovely comments on my previous challenge beads of courage. Even my daughter was impressed by al the comments.

I don't know why, but for some reason I just couldn't get this challenge done. It is becaus I don't like straight lines, and al my designw were realy straight. I am more a swirl type. So I combined my stripes with finery, and this felt much better. So this is the result I want to share with al of you.

Zendala Dare 28: Rozen

De zendala dare deze week, is werkelijk een prachtige template, waar je veel kanten mee uitkunt. Ik ben begonnen met het midden, en was van plan daar een Aura-knot in te maken. Nou dat is niet helemaal uitgekomen. Eenmaal aan het tanglen bleek dat de aura-knot niet kon zoals ik in gedachte had. Het resultaat lijkt dan ook niet op een auraknot, maar meer op XI. De openruimte heb ik gevuld met Stipple. In de hartvormige figuren, wilde ik graag rozen in de knop maken, maar wist niet goed hoe, en kon ook geen voorbeeld vinden op het web. Dus maar weer mijn toevlucht genomen naar de blaadjes die ik zo graag maak. Dan nog de buitenrand. Ook hier had ik geen idee wat ik moest maken in de rechthoekige vormpjes. Wat surfen op het web voor inspiratie van een leuk patroon, kwam ik toch nog iets met roosjes tegen, en deze heb ik dan ook met veel plezier getekend.

Foto 2: Met kleur zonder schaduw

Het patroontje heet: Spinrose. De roosjes vond ik uitermate geschikt om in te kleuren.

Ik heb een paar  foto's gemaakt zodat jullie kunnen zien hoe ik het werk heb opgebouwd, en wat her effect is van bijv. inkleuren of schaduwen. Foto 1 is het resultaat van mijn teken werk, zonder kleur, zonder schaduwen. Foto 2 bevat al de gekleurde roosjes, en Foto 3 uiteindelijk is mijn eindresultaat met kleur en met schaduw. Foto 1 en 2 heb ik in de buitenlucht gemaakt, zij hebben dan ook een mooie witte achtergrond. Foto 3 heb ik echter vanavond gemaakt toen het buiten donker was, en ik de foto bij kunstlicht moest maken. Het resultaat is dat alles wat geler lijkt. Op zich wel mooi dus ik heb hem maar erbij laten staan.

The Zendala dare this is week is a great template. It has lots of possibilities. I started in the middle and wanted to do the Aura-knot. Well that didn't worked out the way I planned. While I was drawing, I saw it wasn't possible or I started wrong. The result looks more to XI to me, whatever I like it the way it turned out. The hart-shapes outside the middle I wanted to fill with rosebuttons, but didn't know how to do that. My drawing skills are not that good, that I can draw it myself. Surfing on the web I didn't find a pattern either, so I did my favorite (the leaves of ennies). Next the border of the zendala. Here I didn't know what to do so again surfing to get some inspiration. Well I found a rose pattern afteral. It is called Spinrose, and was just what I was looking for. I had a lot of fun making this pattern. Its very easy and its great looking. Of course they are great to color. 

I made a few photos of my work so all of you can see how my workflow was. And to show what effect  using color and shading has. Foto 1 is the result of the zendala without color and shades. In foto 2 I have done the color work. And foto 3 is my result of the dare. The first 2 are made outside and they have a beautiful white background, the 3 foto is made in the evening. It was already dark outside, so I had to make the picture inside. Thats why there is a yellow shine over the picture. I like it that way so I decided to post it.

Celtic Challenge 10

Aangezien ik wat meer met kleur wil gaan werken, heb ik me toch maar betere kleurpotloden aangeschaft. Na wat webresearch heb ik uiteindelijk gekozen voor prisma kleurpotloden. Vandaag zijn ze met de post bezorgd. Uiteraard wilde ik ze graag uitproberen, en heb dan ook flink wat geoefend en ze natuurlijk ook op de celtic challenge 10 van Judy toegepast. Voor mij was al snel duidelijk dat ik de achtergrond van de figuren zou tanglen met pais en stipple. De voorgetekende vormen van de template heb ik niet getangled maar met mijn nieuwe kleurpotloden ingekleurd. Inkleuren vergt toch wat oefening, het is nog niet zo eenvoudig om mooi schaduw werk te creeeren met de kleurtjes. Ik ben begonnen met de rode cirkel in te kleuren, deze is dan ook niet zo goed gelukt als de groene en blauwe vierkanten. Daar vind ik persoonlijk de schaduwen beter gelukt. Ik zal echter nog flink moeten oefenen wil ik de kleurtjes zo krijgen als ik dat voor ogen heb. Al met al ben ik tevreden over het eindresultaat.

Because I want to do more colorwork I decided to buy some better colorpencils. After some research on the web I thought that the prismacolor pencils would be a great choice. So I ordered them. Today, I recieved the package, with my brand new colors. So I couldn't wait to try them. Of course I wanted to try them on a challenge so I took the celtic Challenge 10 from Judy. From the start it was clear to me that I wanted to tangle the background, and color the circle and the squares. I used the Pais and stipple tangles to fill the background, and I picked 3 colors to do the geometric figures. I started with the red circle. I have to do some more practice, to get the right shading effects with the colors, as you can see above. The bleu and the green square are done a bit better. So in the end I'am rather satisfied with the result......

Challenge 91 Beads of courage

De Diva challenge van deze week heeft als titel ' Beads of Courage'. Ik vind dit een geweldig initiatief. Want chronisch zieke kinderen zijn inderdaad heel moedig. Ze moeten vaak vervelende onderzoeken ondergaan, en worden voortdurend geconfronteerd met vervelende aspecten van hun ziekte. Ik heb dan ook bijzonder veel respect voor deze kinderen. Ik spreek uit ervaring, want mijn dochter lijdt aan een chronische ziekte. (Duchenne). Ik draag mijn werk dan  ook op aan haar en alle andere kinderen die lijden aan de ziekte van Duchenne.

The Diva challenge of this week has as title: ' Beads of Courage'. I think this is great. Because children with a chronic illness have a lot of courage indeed. The have to get examinations in hospitals, and they often are confronted with all the aspects of their illness. They deserve respect for that according to my opinion. I know what I'm talking about, I have a daugther with a chronic illness (Duchenne dystrofy) and she is always laughing despite of her illness. I dedicate this string with beads of courage to her and all the childeren who suffer this illness.

Gahnesha calling

Herhaaldelijk kom ik bij het maken van challenges, werk tegen van Dillip Patel. Wat rondkijkend op zijn site, kwam ik zijn Zentange Gahnesha Calling tegen, een commitment wat hij voor zichzelf heeft gemaakt nl. het plaatsen 100 zentangle Gahneshas voor 31 dec. 2012. Uiteraard wist ik niet wat Gahnesa betekent, dus dat ben ik eerst maar eens gaan opzoeken op wikipedia. Geprikkeld door het verhaal, en om Dillip te ondersteunen, heb ik foto van een beeldje op internet gezocht van Gahnesa, en dit nagetekend, om vervolgens te zentanglen.


Making the several challenges I often see the work of Pillip Patel. Because I was curious about his background, I looked around at his site, and saw his  Zentangle Gahnesha Calling. It is his commitmet to publicsh 100 Zentangle Ganeshas before 31st December 2012. I was curious, and didn't know about Gahnesa, so I look it up at Wikepedia. I started to be interested, so I looked for a picture of Gahnesa on the web, draw it over, and filled it with tangles. I had a lot of fun doing this so Pillip I hope this will help you.
